Three professionals tied for first place after rounds of two-over-par 74 at the March Thetford ProAm - but Newmarket's Ben Kerr picked the best partner to finish top of the ProAm scores.
Ben & Matt Hartley - Newmarket's manager - combined for a total of 40pts, one better than Caroline Grady & Tony Belmonte (Bawburgh) and Andy Cotton (Ufford Park) & John Banks (Bury St Edmunds).
Andy Marshall (Dereham) and Chris Soanes (Rookery Park) matched Ben Kerr's round of 74.
The AmAm was won by Steve Plumb & Tim Smith (Saffron Walden) with 40pts, one more than Roger Toone & Richard Cross (Stoke-by-Nayland) and G Maclean & N Barrett (Rookery Park).
A total of £154 was raised for the England & Wales Blind Golf Association as Peter Croker won the March Stableford at Thetford. Nine-handicap Peter came in with 38pts to beat David Sutton (12) by one point. Third place went to Club Captain Mike Horley with 35 off a handicap of six, beating Tom Price (14), Martin Lash (16) and Tim McAlinden (12) on countback.
Other scores: 34 John Baldwin (10), Matt Harben (5) and Paul Wright (24); 33 Nick Tomes (19) and Neil Elers (10); 32 Paul Garnham (9), Minh Le (13), John Ward (10), Robert Bentley (14) and Kevin Cooke (8).
Thetford bowed out of the NLCGA Diamond Knock-out when they lost by four holes in the first-round match at home to Richmond Park. Val Gallagher & Gwen Dixon halved their match but top pair Margo Horsburgh & Rosemary Bloom and Teresa Tarrant & Moira Morgan both lost close matches by two holes.
Thetford Seniors Captain Dave Smith started his season with a convincing 5-1/2 to 1/2 win in the home match against Royal Cromer.
