New look for Harry Hawker Spoons

The rules for Breckland and Country members who take part in weekend competitions have changed for 2020 along with the rules for the Harry Hawker Spoons, which is a trophy specifically for Breckland and Country members. In recent years the numbers of players taking part in that competition have diminished and in 2019 the trophy was not awarded because of a lack of entries.

To re-invigorate the event we have decided on a change of format. In 2020 the Harry Hawker Spoons will be decided by results in Midweek Stablefords. All Breckland and Country members who take part in these events will be awarded points depending on their position relative to other Breckland and Country members. All entrants will be eligible to win prizes in the Midweek Stablefords as well as points for the end-of-season Harry Hawker Spoons.

In 2020 the competition will run from the January Midweek Stableford until the October Midweek Stableford. In future years it will run from the November Midweek Stableford onwards.

We hope this will encourage more players to take part and we will publish up-to-date tables with the leading point-scorers as the year goes on.

There will also be changes to the weekend competitions that Breckland and Country members can take part in. In 2020 this will be limited to the Club Summer Meeting (Sunday June 28), the RAFA Shield (Saturday September 12) and the October Stableford (Saturday October 24). Breckland and Country members will be eligible to win prizes in those events.

Breckland and Country members will also be welcomed at various additional events such as shotgun starts and social events.
