We have just completed our first weekend of four-ball play since Lockdown - and unfortunately it was the first wet weekend in months! Hopefully you did not all get too wet - and the course does need the rain. If you would like to provide any feedback on the four-ball arrangements, send me an email.
We have also resumed accepting Supplementary Cards and cards for an initial handicap. Check that your handicap is active if you are planning to play in competitions.
We are now re-introducing competition play and I will send out a separate email marked Competition Rules to cover the following events which are scheduled for the rest of this month:
Saturday June 13: Steve Juster Cup first round (7.00 to 12.28) and Business Ladies Trophy (12.36 to 13.24).

We are also restarting the matchplay knock-out competitions - the second round of the Cock Pheasant Trophy is due by July 12 and the second round of the Roy Lawrence Trophy is due by July 19. The deadlines for subsequent rounds are shown on the website - if you cannot make any of those deadlines due to other commitments withdraw from the competition. Meanwhile - contact your opponent(s) and agree a date to play.
One Blight Goblets semi-final has been played and the other will now be played as soon as possible. We will then arrange the final to suit the participants.
Professional Stuart Smith has been co-ordinating use of the practice areas. If you would like to use the large practice area or the short game practice area, give him a call on the day to book a time. And you can now also book the putting green alongside the 6th tee by calling Stuart. If you want to hire a buggy you can do so from the pro shop - previously they had only been available to those with medical requirements.
Another reminder about the correct procedure to book a tee time. Bookings open at 8pm for tee times in seven days' time. I can assure you that NO bookings are made before that time - but as you may have noticed by a few minutes after 8pm many of the times have been snapped up. Every member has the same opportunity to make a booking. Tick the box that shows if you intend booking a two-ball, three-ball or four-ball as this allows other members to join you if there are spaces. We are keen to enable as many members as possible to play. However, if you have a good reason to NOT want other people to join you, make the booking as a four-ball which means Anonymous will be shown for the other place(s). Then email the pro shop or call before 12pm the next day to confirm that you intended to stop others from joining you. If you join another group it is recommended as a matter of courtesy to contact them to let them know.
Finally, all players must remain in their cars until 15 minutes before their tee time. They can then use the main putting green, the chipping green or the practice net before teeing off. At the end of the round they must leave the course immediately - they must not use the patio area, by order of the Board of Directors.
With our latest influx of new members we currently have more names on our lists than ever before - and it is good to see so many of them playing. We are limiting tee bookings to members only, with members' guests allowed after 1pm. Although we have a high number of bookings every day, so far we have also had additional places available - mainly later in the day. We will monitor the situation.
