Leading contenders out of the frame

The leading contenders for the overall title were out of the running after Sunday's foursomes round in Thetford GC's Winter League.
Sunday's competition was the fourth of the six rounds, with the best four scores counting for the trophy. Kevin Cooke & Rob Taylor led the way on Sunday with 37 but they have only played together for two of the four required rounds so will need to take part on February 18 and 25 to qualify for the overall title.
Cooke & Taylor came in with 37pts for a two-round total of 77. Matt Harben & Robbie O'Brien and Daryl Breen & Dan Franklin came in with 36 and Pat Gould & Peter Webster were next with 35.
The overall leaders, Peter Croker & John Ward, could only add 32pts to take their tally to 147. With four out of the six rounds counting they can now try to improve on that score over the last two rounds.
Tony Brooks & Dave Fitchett also had 32 for second place with 141 while Arron Gaskell & Nolan Guthrie are third on 141 after adding 31pts.
