Level par round earns a cut in handicap

Jess regains her Ladies' Championship crown

Jess Dixon was in sparkling form to end Kath Malvern's bid for a hat-trick of wins in Thetford Golf Club's Ladies' Club Championship.
In Sunday's final Jess had only dropped one stroke when she closed out a 4&3 win over Kath, who had herself only dropped three strokes. It gave Jess her fourth title after wins in 2012, 2013 and 2015, with Kath winning for the last two years. Jess (left) and Kath are pictured below.
In the Ladies' Handicap Cup Heather Keeble beat Vicki Smith 5&4 in the final.
In the final of the men's matchplay event Mike Horley retained the Cock Pheasant Trophy with a 3&2 win over Andrew Knowles.
The Cock Pheasant Plate, for first-round losers, was won by Martin Eeles with a 2&1 win over Nolan Guthrie. It was the third year in a row that Nolan had been the beaten finalist.
The Cowan & Oliver Trophy has a 36-hole final played off scratch and Dean Scott beat Ross Sanford 4&3 to win the trophy for the first time.
There was a remarkable performance by Rafe Ashby in the Roy Lawrence Trophy final. This is the four-ball better-ball event but Rafe had to play on his own after his partner was disqualified for not having an active handicap. Undeterred, Rafe won his semi-final match and then followed up by beating Peter Allott & Brian How 3&2 in the final. Rafe did not use a driver off the tee but hit his six-iron a prodigious distance with great consistency.
The Treetops Trophy, awarded to the winner of the Scratch Knock-Out competition, went to Rob Taylor who received a walk-over from Matt Wabe, who could not play on the Finals Weekend.
Martin Hill came in with a terrific score of 88-21-67 to win the Gentle Cup, which is for players aged over 55, at Thetford Golf Club.
He finished three strokes clear of Frank Knight (94-24-70) with Ron McMullin third with 85-14-71. Other scores: Ian Bell 88-16-72, Andrew Bloom 84-12-72, John Lynch 90-17-73, Gary Woodhouse 84-11-73, Norman Hargreaves 92-19-73, Barry Tredgett 94-20-74, Geoff Allan 92-18-74, Bob Richards 97-23-74, John Baldwin 85-10-75, Dave Rivett 95-19-76, Phil Halford 90-14-76, Steve Campbell 89-13-76.
