Barnard Trophy 2025
The second round of the Barnard Trophy took place on Wednesday 4th June. For the second round we again were at home taking on Wensum Valley. We arrived at the Club to find the greens being sanded and the tees all set to their longest length. In four of the five pairings Thetford were giving shots and in the 5th pairing the shots were even, so it was always going to be a difficult day. Terry and Ian led us out and were giving the most shots. Despite playing to 7 over par gross they came across an inspired 20 handicapper and went down by 2 & 1. The next two groups Thetford won by 3 & 2 and by 2 holes. With the final group also winning 4 & 3, it meant Thetford had an unassailable lead. The fourth pairing being all square coming down the last both pairings agreed a draw after having played two shots each. The final result 3.5 - 1.5 to Thetford, a good outcome for Thetford, now into the quarter finals with another home draw on the 2nd July against Barnham Broom.
